And the bullet penetrated -no not the ball …
They were shells indeed, according to the independent magazine, an Israeli warship opened fire on children who were playing football on the beach. Four of those children died.
The problem is that the full stop in the previous sentence isn’t a “stop” sign or an end for kids’ misery in the Middle East, neither it has been a Trauma to awaken the humanity that the world’s leaders carry in them, nor was it a single incident in the world… Because most probably, to them, those kids were like a new collection of Buick matchbox cars that needs to be counted, and then they would move to a newer one.
Some statistics published by the BBC and based on Reports issued from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, 1700 children under the age of 10 years were killed in Syria since the beginning of the crisis in 2011. Thousands killed in Libya during the rebellion, that turned out to be a war; same case for Egypt and lastly for Yemen.
World Health Organization’s reports talk about around one hundred children who died since the beginning of the Yemeni crisis. Few were killed directly, while many others passed away due to the lack of medical support as well as the lack of nutritional resources.
And here lies the main question: how can we think about building a better future while the children are dying in this tragedian way?
How can anyone conduct wars in the name of their rights, while their right for living isn’t secured?
Moreover, isn’t the reason why some health and humanitarian international organizations are founded “fighting death and misery”? Then why settle to “counting deaths”?
Humanity woke up on the wrong side of the bed a long while ago, and humans’ actions breached conscience’s defense wall. This is how the offside flag was raised.
It’s either we, as human beings, take the responsibility and develop effective ways to protect humans from death; or at least admit Humanity’s failure…

أدوّن هذه الكلمات في الذكرى الثامنة والثلاثين لاستشهاد القائد الكبير كمال جنبلاط، ولمناسبة تدشين الشارع الذي يحمل اسمه في قلب العاصمة ـ شارع مصرف لبنان سابقاً.
وفي الشارع معالم لها علاقة بكمال جنبلاط: ففيه المكتبة الوطنية، وهو كان من أبرز المفكرين اللبنانيين. وفيه أيضاً مقر وزارة الداخلية، وهو أبرز من تولاها قبل نصف قرن.
وما زلت أذكر تصريحه الشهير «أنا حاكم لبنان الإداري» الذي احتلّ مانشيتات الصحف. وهو فعلاً كان كذلك، إذ فرض هيبة الدولة في كل لبنان. وأذكر أن إحدى التظاهرات الحاشدة كانت تهدر في شارع بيروت الوطني الممتد بين البربير وساحة رياض الصلح، عندما شاهد قادة التظاهرة على بعد حوالي مئتي متر، كمال جنبلاط واقفاً وحيداً في وسط الشارع قبل ساحة رياض الصلح بقليل. فتوقفت التظاهرة، وساد هدوء وصمت تام، وفي ذلك الزمان كانت التظاهرات لا تكترث للحواجز الأمنية وحشود رجال الأمن. لكن رجلاً واحداً، من دون سلاح ولا حواجز ولا مؤازرة، كان كافياً أن يقف لتقف، لأن اسمه كمال جنبلاط.
أهل بيروت أحبّوا كمال جنبلاط وقيادته الوطنية ونزاهته الخلقية. كان يكفي أن يطلق فريد جبران شعار أنه مرشح كمال جنبلاط، لينتخبه الناس نائباً عن بيروت لأكثر من ثلاثة عقود.
لا أنسى العام 1975 المنظر أمام دار الفتوى في عائشة بكار، وأنا برفقته في سيارته المرسيدس الخضراء ذات الرقم 5888، وكنت المشارك والشاهد الدائم، وصلة الوصل في علاقته مع المفتي الشهيد حسن خالد، عندما حاول أهالي بيروت حمل سيارته بمن فيها، وهم يُطلقون الهتافات المحيية له. ولعل أهم أسباب هذه المحبة، صداقته المتينة مع جمال عبد الناصر.
أعتز أنني كنت مشاركاً شبه يومي في مجلسه السياسي، في منزله المجاور لفرن الحطب في المصيطبة. وكان يتصل بي هاتفياً أحياناً في الصباح الباكر، فأذهب إلى زيارته حوالي السابعة صباحاً، حيث يستقبلني أحياناً في غرفة نومه، ويكون الشيخ صالح، رفيق حواره الروحي، على وشك المغادرة.
أعتز أنه اختارني في نهاية الستينيات، وكنت في العشرينيات من عمري، بين بضعة بيروتيين ليزورني في منزلي في عين المريسة، وكان برفقته الزعيم شوكت شقير وإبراهيم قليلات، ليقول للرأي العام إن هؤلاء بالنسبة له هم رموز بيروت الوطنية.
وأعتز أيضاً أنني في السبعينيات كنت أرافقه في العديد من زياراته البيروتية، وأنه أحياناً كان يجلس بجانبي وحيداً وأنا أقود سيارتي، وهو بذلك يؤكد على الثقة الكبيرة التي شرّفني بها.
مع الشارع الذي يحمل اسمك في قلب العاصمة، أيّها الكبير الكبير، تحية محبة ووفاء من قلوب أبناء بيروت، الذي رفعوا معك وما يزالون، رايات العروبة.

Shining eyes, smiling lips and messy hair was his portrait.
He used to wait at the door of a university for anyone to buy from his roses so he won’t be grounded once going back home.
Some people never noticed him, some felt pity for this little child, others used to mock him to have fun and some felt pity for themselves for they couldn’t help him with more than a piece of bread. But at the end of the day, for them, he was a little stranger; which was not his case.
He knew them all, he memorized their words, their fights, their smile and even more, he saw their tears… Mr messy hair witnessed their lives, witnessed life in its sincere moments.
Those tears were the hardest part of his day; and so when he saw that young beautiful lady crying, without her lover for the first time, he went to her. Not that he knew much about reassuring people but he remembered that a little kiss from his mother used to let him forget his dad’s slaps and punishments.
He went to her, kissed her cheeks and gave her one of the roses that were between his hands, he didn’t step away till making sure that her face was smiling again.
Time passed, he saw her again laughing and holding hands with the one she loves. And when she stopped coming to her university, he loved to think that his rose helped the lady with her problems.
While many people tend to sleep on broken hearts, not knowing that they are born to make a change –even a little one- a “powerless” child realized that he can leave his imprint in this world.
And so everyone of us can inspire, move rocks, when we believe in our value as human beings that can make a difference.

قد يتغيّر لون الحياة بثوانٍ، فيجتاز مسافة الطرفين المتضادّين… كالأبيض والأسود، الحب والكره، الأمان والخوف أو كالسلام والحرب.
أحيانًا، يغدو ملجأك، الخطر الأكبر عليك. ينسحب الدفءُ من حنايا منزلٍ اعتدت الهرب إليه، تاركًا المسرح لعويل الدمارِ والخراب.
عندها فقط تعي مكانة الأشياء، عندما تتفحّصها متسائلًا: أيٌّ منك تقوى تحمّل اللّجوء خلف الحدود؟ أيٌّ منك لا أقوى اللّجوء دونها؟
وردةُ اللقاء الأوّل؟
نايُ المعزوفة الأحبّ؟
كرةُ الركلة الأولى، عندما كنّا نستطيع المشيِ؟
لكن، ماذا عن أحلامٍ رسمناها لتسكن هذا البيت؟ ماذا عن ذكرياتٍ كبرت وإيّانا؟ ماذا عن آمالٍ ترفض أن تبارح وطنًا ولدت فيه؟

“إنّ العلوم السياسية التي تدرسون هي من أرقى العلوم حيث أنّها علم الدولة والإنسان، والأخطر فقرار خاطئ من رجل دولة قد يودي بها الى ما لا تحمد عقباه.”
قالها أحد المحاضرين في كلية الحقوق والعلوم السياسية في الجامعة اللبنانية لطلّابه، ثم أعاد تنظيم أوراقه وغادر قاعة التدريس للسنة الأولى، التي تستقبل في الفرع الأول من الكلية فقط بين 2000 و2500 طالبًا سنويًّا، بحسب لوائح الطلاب، ولكن المتخرجين بهذا الإختصاص في سنتِه الأخيرة لا يتعدّى عددهم المئة طالب.
فما هو هذا الإختصاص وما علاقة الأعداد الكبيرة بامتحان الدخول ؟ ولماذا تتوجّه هذه الأعداد الكبيرة من الطلاب لدراسة العلوم السياسية؟
من البديهي أن يكون اختيار الطلاب لإجازة العلوم السياسية والإدارية تندرج من رغبة في المعرفة السياسية بشكلٍ عام، والتعرف الى عالم العلاقات الدولية والسلك الدبلوماسي والقانون الدستوري، وغيرها من القضايا المثيرة. إضافة الى محاولتهم فهم ما يجري على الساحة اللبنانية، ولكن هل صعوبة الإختصاص هي التي تؤدّي الى رسوب الكثيرين أو عدم إكمال الدراسة؟ أم أن الأسباب “البديهية” لدخول الطالب الى هذه الكلية، الى جانب عوامل وأسباب أخرى تضعف الفرضية الأساس.
أوّلًا وبلمحة شاملة، إن المواد التي تدرَّس – ورغم عدم جمودها – هي تشمل فلسفة الفكر السياسي، طبيعة الأنظمة السياسية، إضافة الى قوانين عدة منها القانون الدولي، وغيرها من المواد والموضوعات الكفيلة بأن تخرّج افرادًا على اطّلاع ودراية بمفاصل العلم السياسي كما وباحثين ومحلّلين في هذا المجال قادرين على تطوير النظام السياسي اللبناني (اذا ما أتيحت لهم الفرصة لذلك).
إحدى العقبات التي تواجهها الكليّة حاليًّا، هي نظام التدريس فيها، فقد بدء مع عام 2009 تطبيق نظام الLMD داخلها (علمًا أنه أقرَّ في تاريخٍ سابقٍ على ذلك) أي أنه حديث نوعًا ما. ونظرًا لخصوصية هذا المجال فطريقة تطبيق نظام الفصول، بعد أن اعتمدت الجامعة لسنوات نظام السنة الدراسية، كانت بحاجة الى تقييم وتعديل مستمرّين، كان آخرهما في العام الدراسي الحالي.
ومن التعديلات التى جرت، إستحدث موادًّا ونمط امتحان الى جانب مجالات جديدة في الدراسات العليا، وضعتها رئاسة الجامعة على جدول أعمالها بين المهمّات الرئيسية لها لعام 2014. تتمثّل تلك المجالات بـ”إعداد السفراء والقناصل” و”المنظّمات الحكومية وغير الحكومية” تضاف الى الموضوعين الموجودين سابقًا في الماستر -2- ألا وهما “العلاقات الدولية” ومركزه الفرع الأول في الحدت، و”علم السياسية” مركزه الفرع الثاني للكلية في جل الديب.
العقبة الثانية التي تواجهها الكلية -وقد تجد حلًّا هذه السّنة مع إمكانية إلزام جميع كلّيّات الجامعة اللبنانية بإجراء إمتحان دخول-، وجود من هم ليسوا أهلًا لدراسة هذا الإختصاص، فغياب الإختبار الإزامي للراغبين في نيل شهادتي الحقوق والعلوم السياسية والادارية، سيف ذو حدّين. إنّ الكلية وبهذه الحال تستوعب أعدادًا كثيرة من الطلاب الذين لم ينجحوا في اجتياز اختبارات دخول لكليّات أخرى، أو نجحوا فيها لكن لم يتم اختيارهم نظرا لحصر عدد المقبولين في كل كلية . فمثلًا كلية الإعلام تختار حصرًا 250 طالبًا ناجحًا من أصل حوالي الثلاثة آلاف يتقدّمون لخوض مباراة الدخول. كما لا ننسى عدم قدرة جزء كبير من الطلاب على تحمّل الأعباء المالية للجامعات الخاصة، يقول مدير كلية الحقوق والعلوم السياسية والإدارية في الفرع الأول-الحدت الدكتور غالب فرحات “أن سبب عدم وجود امتحان دخول هو كون هذه الجامعة والكليّة تحديدًاً جامعةً وكليةً للفقراء”.
إن الأعداد الهائلة التي تستقبلها الكلية، وسوء التنظيم الإداري لها، تؤثر على نوعية تلقّي الطلاب للمعلومات وتفاعلهم، بعدما أخذ التعليم الحديث على صعيد الجامعات كافة يتجه بعيدا عن التلقين، يبقى تطبيق ذلك في العلوم السياسية صعبًا، فرغم اعتماد النظام الجديد على مبدأ الأعمال التطبيقية والأبحاث، إلّا أنّه مستحيل تطبيق ذلك في السنة الأولى على الأقل، نذكر في هذا الإطار على سبيل المثال لا الحصر العام الدراسي 2010-2011 حيث بلغ عدد المسجلين في السنة الاولى (الفرع الأول) 470 طالبًا وطالبة، ونجد هنا الفرق الشاسع بين عدد المسجّلين في الجامعة وعدد المتخرجين منها، فنجح من السنة الأولى حوالي الربع فقط، تحديدًا119 وانتقل منهم الى السنة الثالثة 80 طالبا و 50 فقط وصلوا الى الماستر -1-.
إذًا، عملية اختيار النخبة تحصل ضمن التدرج لنيل الإجازة حصرًا، فنضيف الى المثل السابق، بلوغ عدد المتخرجين العام الأخير 36 طالبًا وطالبة مع العلم أن عدد المسجّلين في السنة الاولى لهذه الدفعة يفوق هذا العدد بكثير.
لكي تحافظ هذه الجامعة على تاريخها ونوعية التعليم فيها، ولتبقى محرابًا لصنع الكفاءات والأدمغة، ألا يجب أن يوضع اختبارًا دائمًا يسمحُ بتقييم الأفراد كما هي طبيعة الحال في معظم الكليات الأخرى، فلا يكونُ موسميًّا بسب إعطاء الإفادات هذا العام؟ وبالتالي تسليط الضوء على طاقات فكرية وقدرات بشرية وإعطاء الحجم والاهمية الحقيقية لهذا الإختصاص القادر على التغيير في المجمعات، عوضًا عن نظرة الإستخفاف الموجّهة له؟
من المبادرات الإيجابية مؤخّراً، طُرح عرضاً على وزير الخارجية في حكومة نجيب ميقاتي السابقة عدنان منصور، يقضي بحصر الوظائف التي تتطلّب شهادة العلوم السياسية والادارية عمليّا بحملتها؛ يعطى على ضوئها المجازين في هذا المجال في لبنان حقّهم كما هي الحال في الدّول الأخرى. ويروي الدكتور فرحات في هذا الاطار حادثة حصلت مع رئيس الجامعة اللبنانية معالي الدكتور عدنان السيّد حسين في مصر –نقلاً عن لسانه، أنّه عندما سأل عميد كلية العلوم السياسية في احدى الجامعات المصرية عن السبب وراء وجود معدّل علاماتٍ عالٍ كشرطٍ لقبول الطلّاب في الكليّة، أجاب العميد أن طلّاب العلوم السياسية هم يمثّلون “مصـر”. عسى أن يلقى خرّيجو العلوم السياسية في لبنان حقّهم، وقد أثبتوا جدارتهم وتبوّأوا أعلى المراكز.

7th of May, A day that is going to be remembered for each time Lebanon holds a cup in an international championship. The Lebanese national team for men –ranked 29 worldwide will be able to participate in all international basketball events again after being banned last year due to political interference in its federation; not forgetting all other Lebanese teams .
The Lebanese national –men team may have lost the chance of qualifying to the world cup tournament that will take place this summer in Spain, but will surely play with bigger insistence from now on. As the legend of the phoenix (a title given to Lebanon) players are going to play their hearts out so they remind us how they beat France back in 2006 while Lebanon was surviving a war; and most importantly reminding the world that with our fighting spirit we can do what you think is impossible.
Below is the letter sent from FIBA to the Lebanese federation’s president Mr Walid Nassar informing him that the suspension/ban is lifted; and the first international participation for the National team will be in WABA knowing that it might not be with class A players due to the fact that it is happening in conjunction with the toughest Lebanese basketball league ever.
“Dear Mr President,
We acknowledge with thanks receipt of the latest copy of your statutes as approved by your General Assembly.
After a thorough review of your statutes and following the discussions held during your visit to FIBA as well as the positive opinion granted by FIBA Asia, we are pleased to inform you that FIBA is now in a position to lift the suspension of the Lebanese Basketball Federation.
Your Federation is now reinstated with full rights and your teams and officials may take part in all FIBA competitions and activities.
We do hope that the events which caused the suspension of your Federation are behind us and that your federation is now fully equipped for tomorrow’s challenges.
We look forward to further working with you for the development of basketball in Lebanon and to seeing your national teams succeed on the international stage.
